RWA in one view

A token connected to an offchain dependency

Analyze the dependency first: the asset, institution, registry, borrower, custodian, bank account, or servicer that makes the claim valuable.

Claim-map ruleNever stop at “asset-backed.” Name the asset, owner, issuer, holder right, custodian, official record, cash path, and exit mechanism.

RWA is not one asset class

A short-duration fund, private loan, property interest, warehouse receipt, and tokenized bond can all be described as RWA, but they differ in valuation, servicing, liquidity, legal priority, and failure behavior.

The token may be a wrapper

Many structures use a fund, trust, company, partnership, note program, or custody receipt. The holder may own an interest in that wrapper rather than the underlying asset directly.

FAQ

RWA questions

What does RWA mean in digital assets?

RWA means real-world assets: tokens or digital records connected to assets, cash flows, or legal rights outside the blockchain. Examples can include securities, funds, credit, commodities, property interests, and invoices.

Is an RWA token always backed one-to-one?

No. It may represent direct ownership, a fund interest, a note, a participation, a receipt, or another contractual claim. The reserve or asset relationship must be verified from the structure and documents.

What is a claim map?

A claim map is a diagram connecting the token holder to the issuer, legal vehicle, underlying asset, custodian, servicer, cash account, official register, and settlement path.
